Pairing tiles

Pairing tiles together correctly is essential when choosing tiles as tiling a space is a long-lasting investment. Tiles are rapidly becoming the most popular choice for all areas of the home, not just the kitchen and bathroom. The rise in new technology has allowed more sophisticated coverings like brick and stone effect tiles to be created. Here are several options of how different tiles can work well together.

Pairing tiles

Patterned tiles are ever increasing in popularity throughout 2017 and rightly so as they create a real statement within the home. We would recommend limiting the usage of patterned to tiles to one surface – either the floor or a feature wall. When using a busy, patterned tile on the floor then using a large, plain tile on the wall will mean the pattern is the main focus. Tiles should complement not compete with each other, therefore using plain tiles with patterned the space will look more uniform.

Pairing tiles

If you have a large room to tile then they can often cope with a much grater amount of colour so you’re able to use a bold, statement colour on the wall with a contrasting, simple wood effect floor tile. Smaller spaces are often better with neutral colours which will brighten a room and create a more spacious feel. Consider matching your tiles on the wall and floor to help your space look larger but by using different textures to stop it from becoming flat and uninviting.

Pairing tiles

For an easy mix that works in any space, take two tile designs in the same solid colour but different shapes and let the grout lines form the pattern. Choosing a contrasting grout shade such a dark grey grout with white tiles for a pronounced effect. Using a matching grout will make less of a statement with the overall look but still create a subtle interest.

Pairing tiles

A monochrome scheme is easy to achieve, and can give any room a luxurious feel. Start with classic a classic mirror and accessories in bright white and choose striking black and white tiles for the floor. Make your room design stand out by choosing a contrasting furniture and accessory colour. Black and white is such a stark contrast, there is no need to try and make a statement in any other way.
