Originally created in the 1900s for Subway stations, today they are now almost exclusively used for wall tile designs in the home. Available in several sizes and a huge array of colours, they provide an option for all interior colour schemes. Traditionally, they have always been installed horizontally, but recently we have seen a trend in using a herringbone pattern, or installing them vertically to create a different, yet still visually pleasing look. Glass Tiles

Glass tiles originated way back in the BC era when they were used as wall murals exclusively for the wealthy. Advances in technology over time have meant that the glass tile have grown in popularity following the introduction of glass mosaics, perfect for home design in modern interiors.

Mosaic tiles can easily be cut to fit and can be used in unique layouts to create a diverse range of patterns. Previously, an artist would have been required to design and create the wall  but mosaic tiles have opened up the glass tile market to the masses. Mosaics are not constrained to glass only, many contain a combination of glass, metal, stone, metallic and mirrored finishes to create unique textures and designs.

Most recently, we are seeing mosaics being made from recycled glass and finished with a glaze. This is not only more eco-friendly using 98% recycled materials but it also opens up the design spectrum once again, shown here in the Hexawood Hex Recycled Beach.
