The 2018 Pantone colour of the year is Ultraviolet, bringing a big change from last year’s greenery theme. Purple is often associated with mindfulness practices and has a spiritual, mystical quality attached to it. Purple has been noted to come into vogue at important turning points in history; turbulent times are often crucibles for artistic expression. Purple had a heyday with musical artists like Jimi Hendrix in the late 60s and early 70s at the apex of the countercultural movement.

Could the uprising of Ultra Violet in 2018 be a sign of a cultural renaissance, we will have to wait and see.

Last year’s popular greenery could be paired with purple along with blues and golds for a more regal look. Add silver and whites for a softer, elegant look in the home.
